My Goal.
My personal interests lie in Psychology, mental health, and book writing. After conducting research and brainstorming all possibilities of representing my idea in an appropriate and influential manner ; the main goal is to produce a short story about mental health. The concept of the short story will be to write 3 different chapters on a day in the life of 3 different teenagers, each suffering from anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder. In addition, it will be written in first person so their thoughts leading up to their actions are also portrayed in real view. The main characters are followed through the first day of school in which they come to multiple realizations about self-esteem, ethical judgement and status. The target of the book is to raise more awareness amongst teens and young adults to have a better understanding of mental health and for people to refrain from stereotyping people with anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. Leading to the effect of individuals with the disorders feeling comfortable about opening up and seeking the help and support they require. |
My Global Context.
When regarding the definition of Identities and Relationships, it’s indisputable that endowing and enhancing others with firsthand experiences of teenagers struggling with personal, mental, and spiritual health is a feasible option and fits into the criteria of Identities and Relationships. The global context addresses human relationships and the social and mental health of individuals (“MYP Curriculum”). My project had a clear connection to the identities aspect since mental health primarily is a medium for a human’s character and moral uprightness. The short stories portray each main character's identity. In addition, the book covers the relationships of the main characters and how their mental illnesses affect them.
